| Text | Nadine Galloway Bailey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Nadine was born on December 22, 1938, in Troy, Alabama, to H.B. and Ora Mae Galloway. After her school years, she met and married Richard L. Bailey Sr., who was serving in the United States Air Force. During his 20 years of military service, the family primarily lived in San Antonio, Texas, along with a two-year stay in Tainan City, Taiwan. While living there, Nadine owned and operated Rainbow Hills Beauty Salon. After Richard’s military service, the family moved to Ozark, Alabama, to be closer to family. In Ozark, Nadine operated Ewell Beauty Shop. In the years that followed, she and Richard worked with government contractors along the East Coast, including Washington, D.C.; Trenton, New Jersey; and Hyde Park, New York. After retiring, Nadine and Richard moved to Leroy, Alabama, to be close to their son and two granddaughters. Following Richard’s passing in 2000, Nadine remained in Leroy for many years. Seven years ago, she moved to Pensacola, Florida, where she lived with her son Rick until her passing. Nadine had many interests, but her greatest joy and lifelong focus was her family. She loved entertaining and preparing magnificent meals, especially during the holidays, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved her. Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Bailey Sr.; her parents, H.B. and Ora Mae Galloway; and her brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Whitley and Peggy Nadine Phillips (John); her sons, Todd Edward Bailey and Richard L. Bailey Jr.; her sister, Christine Arnett; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. The family extends sincere gratitude to Pruitt Health Care and Emerald Coast Hospice for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. https://www.watersandhibbert.com/obituaries/Nadine-G-Bailey?obId=49218645 | |
